Champaign Co. RPC

Case Manager

August 2018 — August 2019

I joined RPC as a case manager because I wanted to work with clients over a longer period of time, but it also gave me an appreciation for program development, when I was asked to take over the small Funded by IDHS's Homeless Prevention Program, we had a seemingly tiny $50,000 budget. The advocacy work on HB3331 I mentioned earlier actually took place when I was in this role, but I think it helped me advance further.homeless prevention rent assistance program. Having the opportunity to grow in this kind of fusion role was a great experience.

The Pavilion

Mental Health Technician

December 2017 — August 2018

Leaving my job at Clay County Hospital was hard, but to obtain my BSW, I had to accept that. The Pavilion was a great place to put what I learned in the classroom to use immediately. I mostly worked with Adults on the 30-person milieu, though sometimes worked on the New Choice substance use program. “Teching” at a high-acuity psychiatric facility is hard work, but I have many fond memories from it.

Clay County Hospital

Behavioral Health Coordinator

December 2016 — December 2017

Patient Accounts Representative

March 2015 — December 2016

I began at CCH as an “as-needed” Patient Accounts Representative, working the overnight shift as the ER Registration clerk. That grew to full time, then full time working both ER and Primary Care, then I was given a chance to become the Behavioral Health Coordinator/Case Manager, a role I immediately loved. The team I worked with - an LCSW, PsyD, LPC, and APN, were amazing professionals, and I could not have asked for a better learning opportunity.

Before that? Things like temping in a factory, working for a newspaper, and repairing electronics.

I detailed to the NIH’s OSPMO to develop skills in Change Management through formal and practical training.

Champaign Co. RPC
