Two Critiques of the Proposed Social Work Licensure Compact
The Council of State Governments (CSG), Department of Defense (DoD), and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) have partnered to draft an interstate licensure compact for social workers. I have two major concerns with the Compact as-is: it enshrines exams as the primary gatekeeper of the profession, and it reinforces a damaging hierarchy within the profession.

Ban Source of Income Discrimination in Illinois
Short of aggressively legislating for and investing in affordable housing, banning Source of Income Discrimination is the one of the best ways available to make currently unaffordable housing affordable to hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans. Illinois should end this thinly-veiled racist practice and expand protections so that Public Housing Authorities and Continuums of Care across the State can house those most in need with the tremendous resources available in COVID recovery packages.
